Cielo Samui Boutique Hotel & Spa

Cielo Samui is a luxury boutique hotel nestled on a tropical Thai beach. With stunning architecture, a deeply personalized experience, and high-end design, it attracts guests who expect excellence at every touchpoint.

So what happens when your content doesn’t match the quality of your guest experience?

In this case study, I explore how a strategic content revamp could elevate bookings, unify messaging, and build long-term brand love.

A strong content strategy starts with clarity.

• Defining the ideal customer and aligning content to their journey
• Creating strong brand pillars to guide tone and message
• Weaving in storytelling to build emotional connection
• Auditing and organizing existing content to cut clutter and confusion
• Identifying SEO and UX opportunities across the site
• Suggesting a clear repurposing framework for efficiency
• Supporting design/dev with thoughtful copy direction

define the basics

Who are their main client persona’s?

Couples and families who value privacy and intimate luxury experiences

Honeymooners looking for a special and unique hotel experience

A beachy modern minimal aesthetic is important for them

What makes them want to book?

A smaller hotel experience to get away from the hustle and bustle

Beautiful surroundings with a certain type of aesthetic for their vacation photos

Private villas with a pool to relax and feel at home

What are their USP’s vs other hotels

Private pools and sun loungers in each villa, so you never have to leave your room if you don’t want too

Ultra aesthetic modern beach vibes, perfect for your eyes and photos/videos of your vacation

Intimate with a handful of villas creates a calm and serene atmosphere

Private beach & restaurant with sun loungers and activities

The challenge

  • The aesthetic of the property is beautiful, but the content on the website and architecture flows are lacking that same vibe

  • Socials look good, but we could incorporate more storytelling across channels

  • SEO needs optimization with text, imagery, and content

  • Direct bookings may suffer with interrupted user flows & content structure

  • As a result, potential guests can either be bouncing quickly or not converting at all.

The goals

  1. Improve content architecture & design to get a similar feeling you’d get in person

  2. Add storytelling elements and copy

  3. Optimize SEO for search engines

  4. Optimize user flows to increase direct bookings

my suggestions

story-telling elements

Mention the style and inspiration behind the property. What inspired the design?

What sort of experience can you expect staying in the villa’s? What does your morning look like? What does a day look like at the hotel? Incorporating this on the website can really have future guests picture themselves staying there.

improving content architecture & flows

As soon as you enter the website, a pop up is there and takes you to a linktree site, away from the booking flow. I’d suggest to remove the pop-up all together, or use it only for direct booking promotions.

CTA’s are not always matching where they take you, for example one CTA is ‘get more information’ but it takes you to the booking flow.

Facilities are at the bottom of the page, I’d move those to the top and add some more details/information about the gorgeous property!

SEO optimization

Incorporating keywords that their ideal users are searching for - tools like SEMRush are great here

Making sure that user flows and user experience is optimally done

Adding in some sort of blog or articles to attract users who are exploring booking in the area

increasing direct bookings

Flow users through booking from not knowing the hotel, to curiosity, to exploring, to booking.
